As ROHPs/RNCPs, it is helpful to remind clients that restoring microbial balance in the body is rarely a one-time intervention.
The body hosts a complex microbial ecosystem – bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms – that live primarily in the gut but also on the skin and throughout the body. This ecosystem responds continuously to diet, stress, sleep patterns, medications and environmental exposures.
Because these influences are ongoing, microbial imbalances cannot usually be corrected with a single treatment or short protocol. Clients may expect a quick fix, but microbial health typically requires consistent and supportive care over time.
You may wish to explain to clients that supporting microbial balance often includes:
A helpful analogy for clients is that the microbiome functions much like a garden. Removing weeds once does not ensure they do not return. Healthy gardens require ongoing care, nourishment, and maintenance to support beneficial growth.
Encouraging clients to understand this perspective can help set realistic expectations, reinforce the value of continued care, and support more sustainable outcomes in their wellness journey.
