Dear IONC members,
We are pleased to announce that the IONC has chosen a new health plan for all members that reside in Canada. We have spent time reviewing available group plans and extended health care options and made some exciting discoveries along the way. This will be an optional health plan that can be available to any of our Canadian members and their families, employees, and clients.
Our preferred insurance provider is National Health Claim (NHC) Core Health Plus Plan. CoreHealth combines traditional insurance like Life, Disability, Accident, and Travel, along with a Health Spending Account. Health Spending Accounts, or HSA’s, can be used as an eligible expense in your business.
We will have more information about how to use HSAs in the
following weeks and months.
We have decided not to enroll in a group plan that offers extended health coverage because we think that Core Health offers more value to our members in their business. There are many advantages to the business owner who utilizes an HSA for health expenses. Utilizing the HSA, any eligible expense can be deducted. So, while some families may want extra dental or orthodontics covered, others may be interested in something that has more vision or hearing coverage. The HSA component of our plan allows for maximum flexibility in what each member decides to claim, paying only for what is expensed vs. an extended health plan that you pay for regardless of what components are being used.
As part of our new health plan, IONC members will have the support of an independent insurance broker contact details can be found in member portal.
Their services are offered at no charge to you or the IONC. Those interested in more traditional extended health plans can certainly discuss those opportunities as well.
